Kathleen Jaffe, MD

Dr. Jaffe grew up in Colorado exploring the Rocky Mountains.  She earned her MD from Harvard Medical School, a Masters in Public Health at UC Berkeley, and completed residency training in Radiation Oncology at Stanford.  Prior to pursuing medicine, she gained experience caring for students as a teacher in the Bay Area.  This was also when she fell in love with Northern California.   While she greatly enjoyed teaching, she knew her heart was in treating patients and the one-on-one experience a physician is privy to.  She left California to pursue medical training on the East Coast, vowing to return to the Bay Area and serve this community.  Joining MCC was a dream come true for her.

Dr. Jaffe is compelled by working with cancer patients and loves the patient-centered care at MCC where she can design critical localized radiation plans, and get to know patients extensively over a full course of treatment.   She has spent time publishing research on breast cancer disparities, drawing on her training in public health and education.  She brings the soul of her work as a teacher into her clinic rooms at MCC, and views part of her role as a physician is also as an educator.  She believes first in providing her patients with the best, most up-to-date treatment available, and second in informing patients along the way and addressing fears.  She treats all types of cancer, and has additional specialization in breast and gynecologic cancers.

Beyond medicine, she has a passion for exploration via travel, the outdoors, learning, and writing.  Her favorite outdoor activity is skiing, which she attributes to her Rocky Mountain roots.   Her children and her family are her greatest joy, and she loves experiencing the world with them in destinations near and far.
